Installation & Updating

RestroPress installs like any other WordPress plugin. Check the server requirements first, then use one of the two methods below.

Install from the WordPress admin#

  1. Go to Plugins › Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for RestroPress.
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate.

After activation the setup wizard opens and creates the pages your store needs.

Install from a ZIP file#

  1. Download the plugin ZIP file.
  2. Go to Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the ZIP file, click Install Now, then Activate.

Install an extension#

RestroPress extensions are separate plugins. Install them the same way, from the ZIP file you download from your account at restropress.com, then add the licence key when the extension asks for it so it can receive updates. Each extension has its own page under Extensions.

Update RestroPress#

Update from Plugins (or Dashboard › Updates) when a new version is available. Take a backup of your site first, and update on a staging copy before a busy period if you can. After updating, open RestroPress › Tools and run Health Check to confirm your pages, hours and payment methods are still connected.

Go back to an earlier version#

We recommend running the latest version of RestroPress and its extensions. If you must go back:

  1. Take a backup of your site and database.
  2. Deactivate and delete the current RestroPress plugin. Your orders, customers and settings are kept unless Remove Data on Uninstall? (under Settings › Misc) was ticked.
  3. Download the earlier version from the plugin's page on WordPress.org (Advanced View lists older versions).
  4. Upload it under Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin and activate it.

If a database change was made by a newer version, restore the database backup from before you updated.

Uninstall#

Deactivate RestroPress from Plugins and click Delete. Your menu items, orders, customers, settings and the pages RestroPress created stay in the database, unless Remove Data on Uninstall? under Settings › Misc was ticked before you deleted the plugin. When it is ticked, deleting RestroPress removes all of its data for good, so take a backup first.
